So, for the first time, I chose to participate in a daily exercise of gratitude by posting something on Facebook each day for the month of November and give thanks. While I have enjoyed it, I will say there were a few days where it was a bit of a challenge. The day was long, didn’t go my way, I was drained and wished circumstances were different and you know what I didn’t “feel” very thankful. Guess what? God is worthy of my thanks anyway!
Psalm 34 says, “I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise will continually be on my lips.” All times…the good times, the bad times, the hard times, the sad times, the lonely times, the joyful times. He is worthy of my thanksgiving all the time! While I know God’s heart delights in my thanks, I will tell you that I get much more out of the deal than He. When I make the choice despite my darn feelings to count my blessings and name them one by one, my attitude adjusts. The choice to express praise in the midst of my difficulty changes me.
Is your glass feeling half empty? Are you in despair because life just isn’t how you want it to be? It is time to give thanks! Oh, you may not “feel” like it, but He deserves it and you need it! This Thanksgiving, I pray you are overwhelmed with reasons to voice your praise to the ONE who is worthy! May your hearts be full of gratitude that can not be contained! Happy Thanksgiving my friends!!
Praising the Lord for this truth, and that we both are learning to walk in it!!! He truly is WORTHY of ALL praise ALL the time in EVERY situation. Paul spoke of this, too…to be content regardless. REGARDLESS!!! Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. How I Thank My God for YOU! GOD BLESS YOU!!! I LOVE your neeserisms! SHARING THEM! 🙂
