What’s Your Excuse?

Excuses.  I’m pretty good at convincing myself and others around me. I have come up with lot’s of reasons over different seasons about why I could not go after what God was calling me to do.  Let’s see…I’ve been too busy, too single, too female, too fat, too quiet, too….  Go ahead, fill in the blank.

What are your excuses?  What makes you not enough?  What keeps you from going for all God has for you?  What do you allow to count you out?

In church this week we talked about Moses, his excuse…he wasn’t a great speaker.  The man didn’t have a way with words and YET God chose Him to lead a nation to freedom.  He chose Moses knowing, he didn’t string a sentence together eloquently and He chooses you and I knowing all of our perceived inadequacies.

The truth of the matter is this.  God qualifies me, not my resume, not my gifts, not my abilities, not my resources, He and He alone make me enough.  So I can drop the excuses and lean in to His strength, trusting that He has equipped me for exactly what He’s called me to do.

He makes you enough too.  Any excuses you need to let go of today?  Once we let go, we are free to embrace the unique story He wants to unfold in each of our lives.

Lord, make us brave enough to let go of our excuses so we can say “yes” to all you have for us! Can I get an Amen?!
