I Wanna Be a Cheerleader!

Stop your laughing people!  I’m not speaking literally here.  You won’t see me at the next Sea Gals try out 🙂

I’ve heard football season has officially kicked off.  I say “heard” because I certainly wouldn’t know from my following of the sport, but it does seem to bring a lot of “enthusiastic” behavior to many folks I know!  There are a lot of things one may think of when they think football…Now Again, I am most definitely not the girl to call upon if you have the need to know anything related to football or want to discuss the latest game, but when I think about football, I think of course of the players, screaming fans, intense coaches, hours spent watching the game, re-examining the plays, maybe a tailgate party or two and of course, the Cheerleaders!

When a game is going great and your team is slaughtering the opposition, a cheerleader, I’m sure, adds to the whole football experience.  But, a cheerleader’s real time to shine is when the team is down, when things are bleak and victory seems out of reach.  The fans themselves may be leaving the stands, but the cheerleader remains and screams louder, jumps higher and reminds their team “Go, Fight, Win!”

Lord knows this world is full of people who are injured, beat down and feel utterly hopeless.  They need a cheerleader, someone who will remind them, “You Can Do It!”, someone who will applaud their efforts, while they struggle to make it through, someone who will support them when everyone else up and leaves, someone to believe in them when they feel like throwing in the towel.

I for one, happen to believe this world would be a much better place with a few more cheerleaders in it and I wanna be one!  “Go, Fight, Win!!  “You Can Do It!!”

“…Gently encourage the stragglers, and reach out for the exhausted, pulling them to their feet. Be patient with each person, attentive to individual needs. And be careful that when you get on each other’s nerves you don’t snap at each other. Look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it out”. – 1 Thessalonians 5:13 (The Message)
